Modification of Culvert Design on Discharge Channel: A Case Study in Indonesian Coal-Fired Power Plant

The construction of a new CFPP in Indonesia, which was located next to three existing power plants and utilized an discharge channel, faced the problem insufficient capacity channel deliver water four plants. occurred not only because overcapacity cooling flow proposed by but also small size culvert channel. This paper discusses several methods overcome this enlarging area or removing from replacing it with bridge. A hydraulic study investigated using HEC-RAS software utilizing inputs obtained geometry measurement data. It found that additional culverts on both sides 2 m x 4 3 1 could reduce level 1.12 0.39 m, respectively. Meanwhile, provided significant reduction 1.39 m. Enlarging chosen as solution issue since would require temporarily closing during stopping operation plant.
